-Tell us a little about yourself. (Name, school, program you’re studying, where you’re from.)
My name is Sammie Luna, I am a senior at UNCG in the Interior Architecture program. I am originally from California. My family and I moved to Greensboro to get away from the city and I have been here ever since.
-What made you interested in interior design?
My very first interest in design came from watching Extreme Home Makeover Edition in middle school. I loved how design was so much more to them; it was about helping others. In high school I took an architecture class which also emphasized design and I was hooked.
-Who are some of your design icons?
Kelly Wearstler, Frank Gehry, and Zaha Hadid
-Describe your design aesthetic
My design aesthetic is contemporary or modern with touches of traditional or industrial. I think it’s so much fun to combine two styles and create a whole new, unique aesthetic.
-What do you do at Vivid Interiors?
I am an intern, so I assist with anything the designers need while also soaking up as much knowledge as I can. I go on site visits, assist with mood boards, etc.
-What do you like best about interning at Vivid?
The teamwork and the atmosphere. I love that we all work in the same area and can talk to each other throughout the day.
-Who are your favorite musicians?
I absolutely love Frank Sinatra and Dean Martin. But I also love Lady Gaga and Adele.
-Favorite drink?
Coffee. I’ve been drinking coffee since I was 14 and I don’t see myself stopping anytime soon.
-What is your sign?
Aries
-If you could invite anyone to dinner (living or dead) who would it be?
Julie Andrews, one of my favorite actresses.
-Tell us three words that describe you.
Analytical
Creative
Driven
-What are your plans after graduation?
I want to stay in Greensboro for about a year to gain some local experience. After that my husband and I would like to move to a bigger city. We have always been drawn to Chicago and Boston. I would like to work for a large design firm so I can experience the feel of designing in a big city. Eventually, I would like to start my own business so that I can spend time with my family while continuing to do what I love.
