Intern Spotlight Jada Mormon

INTERN SPOTLIGHT

-Tell us a little about yourself. (Name, school, program you’re studying, where you’re from.)

My name is Jada Morman. I am now a Senior studying interior architecture at the University of North Carolina at Greensboro. I am from Fuquay Varina, NC.

-What made you interested in interior design?

I’ve always loved helping people. I was always the teacher’s helper in elementary school and my favorite activity was arts and crafts. I chose interior design because it combines my love for helping people and making things. I, like many design students, watched HGTV when I was younger and was inspired by Joanna Gains and Nicole Curtis. After learning more about interior design and architecture, I’m starting to understand interior design has a bigger impact on our lives than we think.

-Who are some of your design icons?

Frank Gehry, Nicole Curtis, Eric Reinholdt

-Describe your design aesthetic

I would describe my style as a mix of traditional and contemporary. I like the use of natural woods and pieces with character, but I also like clean lines and a contrast with metal elements.

-What do you do at Vivid Interiors?

I am an intern at vivid and I assist with anything the designers may need.

-What do you like best about interning at Vivid?

I was drawn to vivid because of their focus on breaking design boundaries. I love how they work as a team with all of their projects, so it has a creative studio feel.

-Who are your favorite musicians?

Tori Kelly, Lil Durk

-Favorite drink?

Iced green tea with lemonade

-What is your sign?

Taurus

-If you could invite anyone to dinner (living or dead) who would it be?

Sandra Oh

-Tell us three words that describe you.

Reliable, conscientious, organized

-What are your plans after graduation?

I want to explore my options in the design field by working on a wide range of projects. I am interested in Healthcare design and I want to explore that area. I hope to get EDAC certified soon so I am prepared for the field I want to pursue.
