INTERN SPOTLIGHT: HOPE RODGERS-MEDINA
Tell us a little about yourself. (Name, school, program you’re studying, where you’re from)
My name is Hope Rodgers-Medina, and I am originally from Pittsboro, NC, but have lived in Greensboro since graduating from college. I returned to school two years ago to study interior design and am completing my final semester at Randolph Community College this spring.
What made you interested in interior design/graphic design?
I have always enjoyed design, and my mom allowed me to play with paint, wallpaper, etc. That expanded to friends and coworkers, so I finally decided to go back to school and make this a career.
Who are some of your design icons?
Nate Berkus, Amber Lewis, Emily Henderson
Describe your design aesthetic.
I believe in functionality over all other design considerations and lean toward a modern aesthetic.
What do you do at Vivid Interiors?
Interior Design Intern
What do you like best about interning at Vivid?
People are the best part of any business/organization, and Vivid is a great representation of this. Everyone has been so open and welcoming. It’s obvious right away that they want their interns to learn and grow, so they offer ample opportunity for a variety of experiences that a classroom setting just can’t provide.
Who are your favorite musicians?
I love all kinds of music, and I don’t have one favorite musician. But I thoroughly enjoy jazz, rock, R&B, blues, reggae, country, pop.
Favorite drink?
Yerba Mate (tea)
What is your sign?
Aquarius
If you could invite anyone to dinner (living or dead) who would it be?
My parents. I’d give just about anything to have one more meal with them.
Tell us three words that describe you.
Laid-back, Sarcastic, Funny (at least I like to think so)
What are your plans after graduation?
My hope is to work in residential design after graduation.
