How To Decorate with Pantone’s 2018 Color of the Year

In a highly-anticipated unveiling, Pantone has released its 2018 Color of the Year. It’s 18-3838 Ultra Violet, a shade that is as classic as it is contemporary. Pantone, the company behind the Pantone Color Matching System, describes it as having “a mystical or spiritual quality” attached to it. “The color is often associated with mindfulness practices, which offer a higher ground to those seeking refuge from today’s over-stimulated world.” It’s meant to reflect the mystery and calm of the cosmos.

From an interior design perspective, violet isn’t the easiest color to work with- it has a tendency to steal the show, unlike its more muted cousin lavender. This can be worked creatively, though.

So, how might you take this bold shade and add it to an interior space? We have a few ideas!

  1. Ultra-Violet-on-Everything!

  1. By itself as an accent wall for a look that’s both rich + understated

3. As a rug for a bold pop of color + texture
